Cleveland Clinic considers expansion

The Cleveland Clinic has entered into an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA) with the city of Las Vegas on four additional parcels at Symphony Park adjacent to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.  The Agreement sets forth a twelve-month period to allow Cleveland Clinic to review potential future development opportunities at Symphony Park via a feasibility analysis.  The Agreement was unanimously approved by the Las Vegas City Council on September 16 and includes a possible land donation of two of the four parcels from the city of Las Vegas to the Cleveland Clinic.

"We embrace their presence and welcome them to the community," said Mayor Oscar B. Goodman at the City Council meeting of the Cleveland Clinic.  "We are pleased the Cleveland Clinic is considering expanding its services in Las Vegas and consider the donation a small but important gesture relative to the benefit the community will receive from its expanded presence here," he said.

He cited Cleveland Clinic's stellar national rankings in U.S. News  & World Report including a fourth ranking among the best hospitals in the country. Twelve Cleveland Clinic programs were listed in the top 10 in the U.S., including Neurology and Neurosurgery, which ranked 6th nationwide.  More than 4,800 hospitals were assessed. Only 174 scored high enough to be ranked in even one category.

According to Maureen Peckman, CEO of Keep Memory Alive and Cleveland Clinic Nevada, it's too early to tell what kind of additional medical facilities might be built at Symphony Park, but given the Clinic's presence there, complimentary medical services are a natural.
