Laying the Foundation for Symphony Park

Laying the foundation for a project the size of Symphony Park is no small feat.  In April 2008, construction commenced on phase one infrastructure improvements on the southern portion of Symphony Park with the $7.8 million in hard construction costs underwritten by the city of Las Vegas. The phase one project was completed in early 2009.

Commencing with site grading, the project also included roadway excavation, drainage features and structures, parking lot construction, access road and public street construction, curbs and gutters, sewer, water mains and fire hydrants, street markings and dry utilities including gas, telephone, cable and fiber optic. “It’s quite a laundry list,” said Jorge Cervantes, city of Las Vegas director of Public Works, of this comprehensive project that lays the groundwork for what’s to come at Symphony Park. Work is expected to begin in 2010 on further infrastructure construction.
