ACE Transit - Rolling onto Valley Streets in March 2010
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC)’s first ACE rapid transit line – the ACE Gold Line – is currently under construction. Once complete it will connect downtown Las Vegas to the world-famous Las Vegas Strip via sleek, bullet-shaped vehicles. It will also provide passengers with easy access to important destinations including the Fremont Street Experience, the World Market Center, the Regional Justice Center and Symphony Park.
The ACE Gold Line will debut in March 2010 and according to Jacob Snow, general manager of the RTC, ACE will redefine what Las Vegans think about mass transit. The ACE rapid transit system will have the appearance and feel of a light rail transit network at a considerably lower cost. The ACE Gold Line is just the first in a series of ACE lines that will improve mobility for Southern Nevada’s residents and visitors.
“The ACE Gold Line will travel in a dedicated, transit-only lane for portions of its route and will have fewer stops than a traditional transit route,” said Snow. Riders will wait at modern, comfortable shelters and enjoy level platform boarding and multiple doors for easy loading. To help further reduce wait times, riders will be able to purchase their transit passes for the vehicle, before it ever arrives.
“We are pleased to give both tourists and residents the opportunity to enjoy downtown in a convenient, affordable and easy way,” said Bill Arent, acting director of the office of business and economic development for the city of Las Vegas. “Downtown has so many new and fun places to eat, drink and visit. Convenient and efficient public transportation is yet another reason to include downtown on your must-visit list.”
