Downtown Las Vegas Alliance Mixer generated interest in downtown revitalization

The Downtown Las Vegas Alliance (DLVA), a non-profit, service-oriented group seeking to improve business and neighborhood conditions downtown, gathered on May 5 for a Cinco de Mayo celebration at Gold Diggers in the Golden Nugget. This is one of several mixer events the organization has planned for the upcoming year. Through community gatherings, open forum discussions, electronic newsletters and an interactive website, the DLVA strives to generate interest in downtown and serve as a supportive resource to assist with its revitalization.

The 35 members of the DLVA board span a diverse range of interests and industries, including arts, culture, civic, medical, education, business, retail, nightlife, entertainment, hotels/casinos and residential.  But all are united by a common belief in the importance of a vibrant downtown.

DVLA President Richard Worthington looks forward to the future of the organization, which is now entering its second year. “In the coming year we hope to focus on common issues and challenges facing our members,” said Worthington. “We’re also looking forward to expanding our membership to include additional downtown stakeholders and incorporating their ideas and priorities.”

The members of the DVLA know that a downtown transformation won’t happen by accident, and that’s why they are working together to ensure that Las Vegas is an ever-improving place to call home, a world-class city in which residents can take pride.

Businesses or individuals interested in learning more about downtown Las Vegas can contact the DVLA for information and tours.  Additional information is available at Downtown Las Vegas Alliance.
