Record-setting philanthropy for Symphony Park projects
Despite the challenging local and national economy, philanthropy in Las Vegas is alive and well. In the span of a single week, Symphony Park projects received a combined total of $33 million from generous community supporters and visionaries.
At The Smith Center topping out ceremony on February 25, CEO Myron Martin announced six new $1 million Founding members who join 39 others in offering critical and foundational support for this transformational project. The six new Founding members are Charles L. Atwood, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, The Knauss Family, Dennis and Carol Troesh and Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
At the Power of Love gala on February 27 benefitting Keep Memory Alive, a record $27 million was raised to help the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health fund research and treatment for neurological diseases. Nearly half of the total donations came from two multimillion-dollar gifts: $8 million from Stan Fulton and $4.5 million from Chuck and Stacie Mathewson.
