WHAT’S UP DOWNTOWN

GRAND OPENING OF CULTURAL CORRIDOR PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
On June 9, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, City Councilman Ricki Barlow and members of the Cultural Corridor Coalition celebrated the completion of the new pedestrian bridge across Las Vegas Boulevard that provides convenient access to seven cultural institutions.

The bridge, which features an LED artistic display by David Griggs, is a public work of art that serves an important purpose in efforts to increase visitors to attractions in the Cultural Corridor, including the Las Vegas Library,  Las Vegas Natural History Museum,  Neon Museum and Neon Boneyard, Reed Whipple Cultural Center, the Old Mormon Fort and State Historic Park and Lied Discovery Children's Museum.

The Cultural Corridor Pedestrian Bridge was funded by the Bureau of Land Management as part of a larger Cultural Corridor Trail Project that includes installing sidewalk ramps, new banner poles, stamped concrete sidewalk panels and concrete embellishments for the 12 city blocks along the urban trail that leads to the cultural institutions.

VEGAS STREATS FESTIVAL
More than 6,000 food truck enthusiasts gathered downtown for the Vegas StrEATS festival on June 11, held outside the El Cortez Hotel and Casino at 600 E. Fremont St.

The monthly festival, presented by the El Cortez, food truck Slidin' Thru, and Insert Coin(s) classic arcade lounge and bar, is a lively block party with music, artists and street vendors amid colorful food trucks offering burgers, sliders, sloppy joes, hot dogs, snow cones and more. The Vegas StrEATS festival was first held in conjunction with the Neon Reverb Music Festival in March 2011. It was so popular it is now held on the second Saturday of every month.

Ages 18 and older are welcome to attend the free festival; the next event is Saturday, July 9. For more information and details, visit http://VegasStrEATS.com.
