WHAT’S UP DOWNTOWN

Chocolate, flowers and tickets to The Mob Museum.  That’s what every Valentine will want this year!  The long-awaited and most anticipated museum in the country, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, is opening on February 14 – just in time to share it with your sweetie.

Tickets can be purchased via The Museum’s new website at www.themobmusuem.org.  Admission is only $10 plus tax for Nevada residents of all ages; $18 plus tax for adults ages 18 and over; $12 plus tax for children ages 5 to 17 and students ages 18 to 23 with ID; $14 plus tax for seniors, military, law enforcement, and teachers.

With tales so intriguing they need no embellishment, The Mob Museum reveals true stories brought to life in a bold and contemporary style via engaging exhibits and multisensory experiences. The Mob Museum puts the visitor in the middle of the action through high-tech theater presentations, iconic one-of-a-kind artifacts, and interactive, themed environments.

Guns, weapons, customized jewelry, personal belongings, and photographs belonging to a who’s who list of mobsters comprise the more than 600 items on display within The Museum. Yet, it’s The Museum’s interactive and highly experiential exhibits that will best help bring to life The Museum's fascinating stories.

Visitors can shoot a simulated tommy gun, listen to real FBI surveillance tapes on wiretapping equipment, and take part in FBI weapons training. Visitors will even have the opportunity to experience a Fire Arms Training Simulator (FATS) used by law enforcement agencies at every level.

The 41,000-square-foot Mob Museum includes approximately 17,000 square feet of exhibition space on three floors in addition to a specialty retail store, special event areas, educational areas, and office space. Museum hours are Sundays through Thursdays from 10 am to 7 pm; and Fridays and Saturdays until 8 pm.
